Freinds and Bredrins (FAB) are pleased to be a partner in the development of this new interactive tool developed by Nottingham Trent University. It was a collaboration between the Department of Psychology (School of Social Sciences) and the Interactive Systems Research Group (School of Science and Technology) at NTU.
Other partners include:
- Lisa Jackson (Mon0Lisa Productions, creator of the Patty Dumplin character),
- BME Cancer Communities, (a registered charity to set up to preserve and protect the health of people, in particular but not exclusively from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME), and low-income communities living with, or affected by, cancer)
- Mr Masood Khan (Consultant Urology surgeon, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust).
The tool helps users assess individual prostate cancer risk, so to encourage men to seek medical advice, and provides information about how clinical diagnosis is made.
It is set around a conversation about prostate cancer symptoms, risk factors, and diagnostic procedures taking place in a fictional barber’s shop. The narrative is available in patois with English subtitles.
This tool is also available as an Android app.
